
The recommendations of the 2nd family business in the Republic of Yemen:
The YBC held the 2nd family businesses conference 21-22 Shawal 1431 H, the 29th to 30th September 2010 termed as (family business .... towards institutionalism) and under the auspices of His Excellency the Prime Minister Dr. Ali Mohammed Mujawar and with the support of a number of companies and institutions in Yemen. The focus of this conference was on the role of leadership and management of the family business and the role of both first and the second generations in promoting the family business growth. Drafting the Constitution of family business in addition to the role of the talents from outside the family in the development process along with the social responsibility of the family businesses in their communities, was highlighted. These topics have been addressed by a number of specialists, and family business leaders from Germany, the Arab Republic of Egypt, United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The conference, concluded to emphasize on the followings:
1 - The importance of family businesses for economic growth and development in Yemen.
2 - Training for the future generations and the importance of learning from the experience of first generation and the need to develop a system for the power transfer between them.
3 - Encourage the institutionalization and governance of the family business.
4 - Encourage family businesses to have their own constitutions.
5 – Recruiting qualified and experienced cadre from outside the family to add value.
6 – Utilizing the services provided in the Family Business Unit at the Yemeni Businessmen Club.
7 - Encourage research in family business areas.
8 - Promoting the creation of legislation that guarantees the survival of family business.
